Ethanol
Gas Savers
Ethanol by itself is a real gas saver. Whether its gasohol (10-percent
ethanol, 90-percent gasoline) or E-85 (85-percent ethanol, 15-percent
gasoline) that fact of the matter is at this writing ethanol is
cheaper than gasoline and saves gas. When I just checked the E 85
prices website
it said that this variety of ethanol is between 17-percent and 37-percent
cheaper than gasoline.

Ethanol Gas Saver

Driving on ethanol in a flex fuel vehicle or gasohol in a standard
vehicle saves not only at the pump but on imported oil as well.
There has been a lot of controversy about ethanol as a gas saver
concerning environmental issues and the upward price of food crops.
With regard to environmental issues it is still clear that ethanol
does reduce tailpipe emissions over gasoline. How large the reduction
is depends on many factors including what feedstock was used to
produce the ethanol, what process and several other factors.
With regard to corn being taken out of the food supply so that
farmers can grow fuel instead of food this may not be a clear cut
as it seems. In the past, corn for food more often is given to livestock
than humans. With the skyrocketing price of gasoline and diesel
fuel many believe the high cost of transportation of food is to
blame for skyrocketing prices and not the narrowing supply.
No matter which side of the issue you're on, one thing is clear.
People are turning to flex-fuel E-85 vehicles in record numbers
over the past couple of years. The only thing holding back wide
adoption of ethanol as a gas saver is that out of 170,000 stations
nationwide only about 1,500 serve ethanol.
Its' simple math. The more stations, the have ethanol, the more
of a gas saver it will be.
