Save gas and save your pocketbook are two motivations on everyone's mind right now. There are many ways to save gas such as driver behavior changes, car maintenance or putting gas saver devices on one's vehicle.

In order to save gas through behavior changes one must learn to accelerate and decelerate slowly and smoothly. By anticipating traffic, the changing of signal lights and knowing the most optimal routes to travel and at what part of the day much gas can be saved.

Lead foot drivers need to slow down in order to save gas. Many people don't even realize they are lead foots as they consider they are simply "keeping up with traffic." But, accelerating quickly is one sure way to burn fuel instead of saving gas. One may even want to check out hypermiling for more extreme behavior methods to save gas.

Now, in order to save gas through the maintenance of one's vehicle, there are several ways to do this. Inflating one's tires to near the maximum recommended pressure will allow the vehicle to roll more efficiently. Making sure one's wheels are aligned and balance will also save gas.

There is another way that people now save gas and that is with gas saver devices. Now, many fuel savers simply don't work. The EPA has discounted most of the fuel savers thrown its say has having no effect on mileage or emissions or even having a negative impact in these two areas. Hurricane machines, magnets and liquid fuel additives have been found to be a general waste of money.

What are effective however are the hydrogen gas savers that one can purchase or build that use a small amount of water, turn it into gas and inject this into the engine to burn. Hydrogen and oxygen burn quite well when sparked and do so cleanly with less emission and save gas by extending mileage as well.
